Mirah Fall 2012 Tour

Release Date 11/12/2012

A graceful songwriter of heart and breadth, Mirah makes exquisite music that shines light into the dark spaces of worlds and souls. Her songs swing from intimate confessions of love found and lost to vivid, compassionate allegories of life on the brink of catastrophe. She's as rambunctious as she is sweet: Pitchfork has praised her “incredible voice—a versatile coo that can flit from low, sultry tones to high, airy falsetto in one breath.” Originally rooted in the vibrant DIY scene of the Pacific Northwest, Mirah’s music over the years has drawn on sources from jazz and afrobeat to the auto-tuned dance anthem, and has taken her to Europe, Japan, Australia, and beyond.  In between projects currently, Mirah has announced a run of upcoming East Coast tour dates in November, including a 11/15 Joe's Pub date in New York as well as a handful of dates with Mount Moriah. Full list of dates below.   Mirah’s string of luminous albums was born at the dawn of our millennium with her debut, 2000’s You Think It’s Like This but Really It’s Like This, made in collaboration with Phil Elverum of The Microphones/Mount Eerie. The stunningly rich Advisory Committee followed in 2002, introducing her to an adoring audience worldwide; the next few years saw the release of the tender C’mon Miracle and album-length collaborations with the Black Cat Orchestra and Ginger Brooks Takahashi and Spectratone International.  In 2009, Mirah released her fourth solo record, (a)spera, an apocalyptic love letter to our planet.

Over the past decade, she has worked with musicians and artists including tUnE-yArDs, Tara Jane Oneil, Khaela Maricich (aka The Blow), Melanie Valera (aka Tender Forever), Jherek Bischoff, and cellist Lori Goldston; Thao & Mirah, an infectious collaboration with Thao Nguyen of the Get Down Stay Down, was released in 2011. Across all her diverse settings—festival stages and activist workshops, folk jewels and electro remixes—Mirah’s arresting voice and expansive vision remain, showing us new sides of the worlds we share and the lives we live.***UPCOMING MIRAH TOUR DATES:11/9/12 Providence, RI @ AS22011/11/12 Hamden, CT @ The Space 11/12/12 Northampton, MA @ Iron Horse Music Hall* 11/13/12 Philadelphia, PA @ Johnny Brenda's* 11/14/12 Washington, DC @ Rock and Roll Hotel* 11/15/12 New York, NY @ Joe's Pub*w/ Mount Moriah
