In 2020, the New York duo of Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion, aka Cults, shared their critically acclaimed album, Host, praised for being “remarkably atmospheric” (Variety) and it’s “solipsistic charming” (Pitchfork). Today, the duo announced their forthcoming EP Host B-Sides & Remixes out September 9 via Sinderlyn featuring remixes from Johnny Jewel, Small Black, Tama Gucci, and more. Cults shares the first B-side “Poodles Dancing.” Listen here.
Cults on “Poodles Dancing” - Very excited to be releasing another B sides and remixes EP, this time from the sessions for our album “Host”. The songs on this release highlight the boundaries we were testing on the record pulling influence from The Cure to Gainsbourg.
Releasing these B sides compilations has become an important part of making an album for us because it pushes us to experiment more on the songs that might be outliers, knowing they’ll have a chance to live.
We were blessed with amazing remixes from Johnny Jewel, Small Black, James Patterson, & Tama Gucci & we can’t wait for you to hear them. see you on tour next month ❤️
Cults begin their 2022 US tour next month with support from Reptaliens and Mazmorra Brilliante. The duo will be traveling coast to coast with notable stops at famous The Troubadour in Los Angeles’, Elsewhere in Brooklyn, and more. Visit cultscultscults.com for more information.
Like many artists in 2020, Cults made and released Host remotely, unable to tour until now. Written more collaboratively than ever before and recorded primarily with live instruments for the first time, Host marks the start of a bold new chapter for the band, one fueled by an ever-deepening trust and a boundless appetite for growth and experimentation. Listen to Host here.
