Named after the best planet on Earth, Earth Dad is hoping to “break the internet like Kim Kardashian did” with their first album recorded with partial access to a studio. At 19 years old, Townies represents a big step forward for these New York City kids. Shortly after graduating high school, Teo and Elliot formed the jangle/dream-pop project in the hopes of creating spooky, cowboy music that could appeal to those looking for an escape from late capitalism. Less than a year later, Townies combines the jangly, godly danelectro guitar sound with driving drum parts, expressive bass lines, honest vocals, and angelic yet spooky harmonies, all with the untempered emotion that only such young, naive space rats can muster. Inspired by a new generation of self-made, alternative artists such as (Sandy) Alex G, Porches, and Frankie Cosmos, Earth Dad yearns to create a new sound that will turn heads and shake hips.
