It was a abysmal day when Alaska joined the union and Texas lost the bragging rights of largest state in the U.S. The most popular saying of the time round these parts was, "Wait til the Ice Melts." When the ice of Alaska melts, Texas will be the largest state again and it will be another point of pride for us Texans. The lone star state is a large diverse territory full of all types of people but it has long been considered a conservative place...as if it never changed from the days of cowboys and indians. A mighty wind is stirring in Texas these days drifting in new sounds from the lone star state. Wait til the Ice Melts is a compilation of new music emerging from Texas but it's not the strum of acoustic guitar you might expect. Instead, the album features an assortment of electronic, indie, and downtempo experimentation from 14 of Texas' brightest producers and bands. The compilation is one of the latest albums from the emerging label, Exponential. The label is quickly showing the rest of the world why Texas is becoming an "unlikely hub for electronic music" and how culture is collapsing. Good music can spring up from unlikely places. So dust off your perception and ya'll take a listen.
